Course Description:
SMART team is an independent study project that runs from late September-mid March through a partnership with MSOE (Milwaukee School of Engineering). SMART teams pair student groups with a local research mentor to study the structure function and research applications of a biological molecule. Students will learn how to use 3D molecular modeling software to study the structure of a protein, create a poster that tells the story of their molecule, and participate in a final group presentation.
Students will have once a month, (Saturday) meetings in Milwaukee (at MSOE or the Medical College) as part of this project. Attendance is highly encouraged. There are 1-2 Blackboard Collaborate meetings per week and assignments done as a group.
