Variety Is the Spice of Life
Virtual learning done right is more than online classes. Do you remember school field trips? Those were days of excitement as kids looked forward to the day the school busses would come and whisk them away to some special place. It may be the zoo, a museum, or an amusement park. Field Trip Day was always a welcome break from the usual routine. For many kids, virtual learning is the routine, but it does not mean sitting in front of the computer all day.
Social Opportunities and Outings
Wisconsin Virtual Learning knows the value of interaction with other students. We know the value of getting out into the world to experience different things. This is why WVL offers social opportunities and outings for our students as part of the curriculum.
During the school year, opportunities are provided throughout the state. Students and families get to meet one another and WVL teachers. Some of the events offered are specific to the different grade levels, while others provide school-wide participation.
When your student is enrolled in WVL, a calendar is provided so you can plan for the upcoming events. Whether your child is in elementary school, junior, or senior high school, there are field trips and learning opportunities away from the computer.
Socializing is Important
Even though your child is going to school virtually, isolation without any socialization is not healthy. Families are encouraged to participate in WVL social life so students can meet each other and make new friends. It is also a good opportunity for you and your child to meet the dedicated teachers who work with your children.
WVL offers events at such places as Bookworm Gardens, the State Capital, Brewers games, among other events. There are also opportunities for students to participate in activities and clubs. We have Student Council, Art and Photography Club, and much more. Your high school student does not need to worry about missing out on prom night either. Along with EAchieve, WVL students have the opportunity to go to a traditional prom. This event is held at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells.
Virtual learning done right includes all of these activities in addition to your online classes. Check your enrolled student calendar to keep up with the social events and opportunities offered to WVL students. For more information, contact WVL.
