Elementary School
Personalized Support
When families come to WVL seeking a method to allow their child access to a public school from the comforts of their own home, we take our responsibility seriously. We have mastered the delicate balance of support and freedom, flexibility and accountability. We understand that you are not a licensed teacher, but that you have a vast wealth of knowledge and experiences that you know are right for your child. We have the licensed and experienced teachers to help you master the new way of math, the struggles of phonics, and the challenges of keeping things challenging yet comforting for our youngest learners. There is no need to do it on your own, when we are here to help.
On top of teachers at the elementary level, each family is assigned a Student Learning Advocate (SLA) to help with any questions or concerns you may have. The SLAs reach out to our families monthly, or more frequently if needed, to ensure that each student has the supports they need to be successful. There is never a need to worry about technical problems with computers or programs due to the expertise of the SLAs and our in house tech support. Our SLAs can also provide the support and guidance needed for creating the perfect space and time for helping your child through their curriculum.
Our student-centered approach to education (see the graph below) allows us to mold to fit the needs of each individual student. When a child enrolls, they meet with one of our student learning advocates to determine which courses, curriculum, and pathway will best match their needs. The student is then able to complete their coursework wherever there is internet access, with the support of our teachers, student learning advocates, and the child’s parent or learning coach.
