Personal Message

My name is Matthew Olson and I am proud to be your school counselor at Wisconsin Virtual Learning.

I graduated from UW-Milwaukee with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and thereafter, a master’s degree in educational psychology- with an emphasis and licensure in [K-12] school counseling. As a school counselor it is my goal to help facilitate successful experiences for all students, especially as it relates to the areas of academic achievement, personal-social development, and post-secondary planning needs.

I plan to accomplish this goal by serving as an unconditional advocate, resource, and support system for all students; being mindful of their individualized learning needs, unique background experiences, and particular interests; and assisting them to recognize/ build upon existing strengths, focus on areas of suggested improvement, set and attain short-term/ long-term goals, and provide for learning opportunities that foster the development of personal growth, confidence, and positive self-expression.

I am looking forward to working with all of our students and their families throughout the school year.
