About Open Enrollment in Wisconsin
Open enrollment allows parents to choose the school they want their child to attend even if it is out of their home school district. This provides more choices for parents and students. If you feel your child will do better at a different school than the one in your district, you have the choice to shop around for the perfect school.
You can apply for a nonresident school district if your child is in 4K to grade 12. There are restrictions for early childhood education however. Transfer to a nonresident school district for these children is allowed only if the child is eligible for that program in the resident school district and only if the resident school district offers the same type of program.
When Can Parents Apply?
Applications for open enrollment in Wisconsin begins on February 7, 2022 and end at 4:00 p.m. April 29, 2022. The most efficient way to apply is online.
