Almost all colleges require tests for admission.
Others may use the results for placement purposes in certain courses or programs.
All Wisconsin students are now given the ACT Plus during the Spring of their junior year. This score will be acceptable for college admissions applications. Because students frequently increase their scores when they re-take an ACT or SAT, college-bound students are encouraged to take the ACT or SAT a second time. The vast majority of college admissions and scholarship committees will use your highest set of scores; therefore, there is nothing to lose by retaking a test.
Generally, students should test at least once in the Spring of their junior year, and re-take their exams in the Summer or early Fall of their senior year.
Because the SAT and the ACT are formatted differently, and cover somewhat different content, some students will score better on the SAT than the ACT. College bound students are encouraged to try both. It's also important to know that the SAT is changing significantly March of 2016. Here is a breakdown of the New SAT.
